The Chiswick’s Novel Prescription to Thank Nursing Staff

Nurses receive gift from Centre Manager

Tuesday 12 May was International Nurses’ Day, a campaign supported by The Royal College of Nursing to celebrate and recognise the extraordinary work of nurses in the UK and around the world.

The nursing team here at The Chiswick are invaluable members of our staff and at the very heart of the care we provide. We simply could not manage without them working seamlessly, as they do, alongside our healthcare providers.

So, what more apt way is there to thank them than with a special prescription? In this case, not a drug – although it could be just as addictive – but ‘Prescription Chocolate’? This tasty treat even came with its own instructions to be read before consumption. Side effects could include ‘cheeks hurting from too much smiling’ and ‘sudden healing powers’. There was also a health warning: ‘contents my disappear faster than you meant them to. Please do not panic. This is completely normal’.

We hoped it brought a smile, a few minutes of well-deserved indulgence and perhaps a little boost of dopamine. It was a small gesture from all of us here at the Chiswick Nursing Centre to those whose role is so central to everything we do, it even features in our name.
