The Chiswick Nursing Centre Celebrates International Nurses Day

May 12th is International Nurses Day, an annual event that seeks to highlight and celebrate the tireless, professional and, sometimes, unseen, work that the nursing profession undertakes.

Endorsed by the Royal College of Nursing, International Nurses Day invites nurses to shine a light on the work they do. There are numerous ways to show our support through gestures of kindness to nursing staff – if only a smile, thank you, small gift, messages of support, or demonstrating examples of how nurses’ actions have helped them or their families.

At The Chiswick Nursing Centre, we employ over 40 qualified nurses. A proportion of them come from overseas, so are truly ‘international’.

Each of our nurses have been personally recognised with a small gift presented by our new Centre Director, Devendra Lallchand. Dev, is a qualified nurse with over 20 years’ experience, so knows exactly what the role entails and how hard nurses work, often in difficult and challenging circumstances.

“I am fortunate to lead such a special and talented team here,” he said: “Our residents, rightly come first and are at the heart of everything we do here, but we couldn’t give the care that we do without our hard working staff. Our nurses play an integral role and I am delighted to recognise their special skills and attributes on this International Nurses Day.
