Christmas preparations are in full swing at the CNC as the build-up to the festive holiday begins. December is always a busy month for us and we have an action-packed calendar that might leave some needing a snooze or two before the big day actually arrives.
Our Buckingham Suite has already got things going with its Christmas party on 9 December. The Kensington, Balmoral, Belgravia and Windsor suites will each have their own celebrations over the coming days.
It has become a tradition here at The Chiswick for local primary school children to enchant us with some favourite carols. Our residents and staff really look forward to their visits. Over the years, we have forged strong links with Peter’s Primary School and Wendel Park Primary School. Both will entertain us on different days. We all know Christmas is just days away when angelic voices fill the air, underpinned by some deeper tones of residents and staff joining in.
Our festive activities keep everyone engaged both mentally and physically with adapted bowling, table tennis, skittles, bingo, arts and crafts and ball exercise, to name just a few. Residents also have the opportunity to make gingerbread men decorations.
A special White Christmas Show will take place on the Buckingham Suite on 19 December, and everyone is very much invited to attend.
Christmas present-giving for residents happens after lunch on Christmas Eve. We then look forward to Christmas Day and the rest of the holiday celebrations.
We aim to make our activities as inclusive as possible, so that everyone can enjoy the festive season. Staff go above and beyond to enable residents to take part in our events. Some may be just too frail or ill to leave their rooms or their beds, so we ensure they all receive a regular visit with quality time spent, gifts and cards given. Christmas music fills the air and staff go that extra mile to make this a truly special time of year. And, of course, friends and family are always warmly welcomed.
