Dementia Café Brings the Community Together

Dementia Cafe

The Chiswick Nursing Centre was delighted to host the first of our new monthly Dementia Café sessions. Facilitated by Peggy Coles of Hammersmith & Fulham Dementia Action Alliance, who act as a bridge between local authority and NHS, we welcomed members of the local community for a morning of friendship, entertainment and support.

Held in our garden on Saturday, the event was a wonderful success, with around 15 guests joining us, many of whom are carers supporting loved ones living with dementia. The Dementia Café has been created to provide a welcoming space where carers can connect with others, share experiences and enjoy a few hours of relaxation in a supportive environment.

The morning began with plenty of laughter as everyone joined in a lively game of ‘Hangman’, followed by fantastic live entertainment from singer Chris Wilkinson. Guests sang along to familiar songs, with several even getting up to dance, creating a joyful atmosphere that everyone enjoyed.

Seeing people smile, socialise and form new friendships was exactly what the Dementia Café is all about. We are proud to work alongside H&F Dementia Action Alliance to support those affected by dementia within our local community and look forward to welcoming even more guests to our future monthly sessions.

We would like to thank everyone who attended and helped make our first Dementia Café such a memorable occasion. We can’t wait to do it all again next month!
