There were flower garlands everywhere, a near-tropical sun shone and delicious scents wafted from the barbecue as all at The Chiswick enjoyed a Hawaiian-themed summer party.
The music, however, was a bit closer to home and provided by the multi-talented, Tony Collins, who can judge the mood of an audience perfectly. He got things moving early on with a repertoire of favourites from the 1970s, including The Monkees’ ‘I’m a Believer’, ‘Celebrate’ from Kool and the Gang’, Elvis Presley’s ‘All Shook Up’ and a track from Ricky Martin that had the activities’ team leading a hand jive that everyone joined in with.
The tasty barbecue went down a treat and was followed by fresh fruit and a glass of fruit punch.
There was a more mellow atmosphere post-lunch as Tony played his violin with a rendition of songs with a softer mood. Things perked up again for a finale. What else could we finish with but the summer favourite of the past couple of years ‘Sweet Caroline’.
The whole team did us proud – with a special shout out to the activities’, maintenance and the catering teams. The residents, their families and friends played their parts too making this a party to remember.
